Chula Vista Genealogical Society Activities in March 2025

   The Chula Vista Genealogical Society (CVGS) (https://chulavistagenealogysociety.wildapricot.org/) hosts four genealogy-related meetings each month.  

The March 2025 meetings are:

1)  CVGS General Meeting on Wednesday, 26 March at 12 noon PDT online in a Zoom meeting.  The speaker is Sara Cochran on “Who Needed it Anyway? 2)  Research Group Meeting on Wednesday, 12 March 2025 at 12 noon PDT in a Zoom virtual meeting hosted by Randy Seaver (Research Chair).  Registration is open at   https://chulavistagenealogysociety.wildapricot.org/event-6046502.  This meeting will be a discussion of recent genealogy and family history news, family trees, searching for records, and how they apply to your genealogy research. A handout is available after the class.

3)  Genealogy Education Class on Tuesday, 18 March 2025 at 1 p.m. PDT in-person at Bonita-Sunnyside Library (4375 Bonita Road, Bonita CA 92002) in the Community Room, hosted by Karen Smith.   Registration is open at https://chulavistagenealogysociety.wildapricot.org/event-6005252.  The focus of this month’s class is DNA 101 at present.

4)  DNA Interest Group Meeting on Wednesday, 19 March 2025 at 12 noon PDT in a Zoom vitual meeting hosted by Randy Seaver (Research Chair).  Registration is open at  https://chulavistagenealogysociety.wildapricot.org/event-6046544.  This meeting will be a discussion of recent genetic genealogy news, DNA testing and analysis, and how they apply to your genealogy research. A handout is available after the class.

Chula Vista Genealogical Society Activities in December 2024

  The Chula Vista Genealogical Society (CVGS) (https://chulavistagenealogysociety.wildapricot.org/) hosts four genealogy-related meetings each month.  

The December 2024 meetings are:

1)  CVGS Annual Holiday Celebration on Wednesday, 11 December 2024 at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bonita Museum and Cultural Center (4355 Bonita Road, Bonita CA 92002), hosted by Karen Smith.

The FamilySearch Catalog is an underused resource by many genealogists. Learn tricks and tips on using this tool to its full potential for finding records within the collection. 

Cheri is a professional genealogist, instructor, writer, speaker and the owner of Carolina Girl Genealogy, LLC. She is the host of the YouTube genealogy chat show GenFriends and is a genealogical researcher, subcontracted by Eagle Investigative Services, Inc., for the US Army Past Conflict Repatriations Branch. She is treasurer of GeneaBloggers and National Genealogical Society Vice President of Society & Organization Management.
